Make sure you’ve read all the threads in the Rules and Guidelines forum before moving through the RP section. Those threads contain necessary information that you should be aware of when creating a character or an RP. All members are also expected to keep up with the latest threads posted in the Announcements forum for important news and/or changes.

Shadows is Mature

This is a mature rated board where mature content will most likely happen. Does it have to happen? No. Can it happen? Of course. But please do keep in mind that while we allow some forms of sexuality and violence to be role played out, it doesn’t mean that we want to see hardcore pornography, or that you can use this board for cybering and whatnot. Selecting four and five-letter words more fitting for cheap porn and constant one night stands is not something we wish to see here. We have no intentions of running this board into ground with pointless smut, and if you're here just to whore your character around, please find some other board.

A mature rating also relates to player’s overall maturity, regardless of his/her actual age. Harassing and disrespecting members of the board will not be tolerated. We have next to no patience for flaming and drama, so please keep that in mind as we will take action against troublemakers. If you do happen to have a disagreement with another member, please contact a member of staff rather than taking the issue to the board itself. Accordingly, initiating public arguments over IC actions is just silly and unacceptable – act maturely and don’t hold a grudge against a player because of something their character did.

Graphics

Avatars are not to be larger than 200x200. Graphic signatures aren’t required, but they are allowed. If you wish to use one, they shouldn’t be larger than 450x150. Also, if you wish to post a picture of your character in RP planning, do not make it so wide that it would stretch the forum. If this does happen, staff will make it into an off-site link.

Advertising

All advertisements should be placed in the appropriate forum Advertising through the private messages is not allowed, and such actions should be reported to a member of the staff immediately. We don't want our members plagued with spam.

Activity

Stay active, and have fun. All members that don't post in 4 months without posting in the absences thread are at risk of deletion.

Posting Manners

Please choose a sensible title for your post or thread so that users will know what the thread is about without having to open it first. Avoid titles like "Bug!" or "I have a question" "What's the deal" etc.!
Don't post the same question or topic in 2 different threads or forums! This is known as double posting and will also lead to warnings by staff members.
Double postings won't help you get your problem or question taken care of faster, it will just clog up the board and distract and annoy the other users! Just click the edit button instead!
Always post topics or questions in the appropriate forum or thread; do not post in the next best thread just because you don't feel like looking for the correct thread! For example, if you have a question, post it in the thread for questions and not in the Idea and Suggestions section.
When posting a thread in the planning section and starting it up in one of the genre threads (Modern, Past, or Future) Please remember to post a link to the planning for easier navigation.

ALL, I repeat ALL posts must me TEN sentences or 200 words +. Staff warn for this. If you don't know how many words you have we supply a word counter on the forum, or you can use the one available in Microsoft Word. The reason for this is that if you don't post with substance, it will not inspire the next poster to do so in return, and then plots die. Let's keep our writing quality. If you need more words try going through the five senses. Make sure you covered everything that you see and feel around you.

Do not god mod.
Definition: saying what someone else's character does.
Bad example - "She ran at him, raising her fist and striking him backwards. She pummeled his chest with her fists and stabbed her knife into his side.."
Good example - "She ran at him, raising her fists as if to strike his chest. She unsheathed her blade, read to strike it into his side"

Do not kill someone else's character without permission. No killing off characters unless it's posted in the out of character chat or via personal messages and agreed to.

Write in 2nd or 3rd person. (This means use the words he, she, they, it, etc. but not I.)

Member Manners

Be respectful and listen to staff. Do not flame or create drama with other members. We're a family, a community of writers and should act as such. You wouldn't be so rude in real life, so don't do so here just because it's the internet and you think you can get away with it. If you have something private to say do so in private. Swearing is allowed on this forum but not when directed at individuals. Use it only in polite talk and in character, not in a derogatory sense. Also, we are a tolerant board. Do not discriminate against another for sex, race, orientation, nationality, etc. and we expect the same from our members.

Other Manners:

The game-board accounts of players with offensive, pornographic, illegal, politically charged or right-wing extremist nicknames will be deleted.
The accounts of players sending offensive, pornographic, illegal, politically charged or right-wing extremist personal messages on the board or posting such content in the game board (whether text or pictures) will be deleted.
Board users must obey any reasonable requests made by board Admins or Mods.
You are not allowed to register a new account in the forum after a ban. accounts registered after the ban of a previous one will be banned or deleted, too.
Write in all areas of this board only in English unless you designate that is for a certain language only.
Swearing is permitted, to an extent.

The chat-box

The chat-box is a privilege, not a member right. It's a place for us all to sit back, relax, and enjoy each others company. Do not ruin that atmosphere. If you are rude we will warn, ban, and even kick you if you break the rules.

1. No spamming or advertising. We have threads for ads.
2. No flooding. 5 consecutive posts max.
3. Be polite to all members and staff.
4. No excessive profantity
5. No shouting (Using all caps continuously)
6. No Drama! This is a forum, and not real life. I will BAN you from chat for this, and if it continues throughout the board I'll suspend your account!
